5 Card

5 Stud Poker – 5 Card Draw

5 Card Draw (or more confidentially “Draw Poker”) is the modern variant that comes closest to the origins of 5 Card Draw.
The rules were developed during the American Civil War, at the same time as the introduction
of flush and straight points, which did not exist before.

Five card draw was the poker player’s game of choice before Texas Hold’em took the poker world by storm. The idea is to make the best five-card hand after one ‘draw’ – or substitution of cards that the player wants to discard.

Game Objective

The objective of the game is to beat the croupier with a 5-card poker combination. There are various winning combinations.

Game Rules

  • Players must place their initial bets within the minimum and maximum limits of each gaming table.
  • The croupier will commence card distribution, leaving only the final card of the bank exposed.
  • Players who choose to “go” must double their initial bet.
  • The bank only plays if it have at least one Ace and one King, or a winning combination. Otherwise, they will pay out the initial bet at 1 to 1.
  • Players with a combination lower than that of the croupier will lose their bets. The management may permit the purchase of an additional card, in which case the player must double their initial bet.
  • The decision of the head of the table is irrevocable.
  • Once the first card is dealt from the card dispenser, bets cannot be placed or modified.
  • It is strictly prohibited to exchange information about the cards among players or to reveal them prematurely.
